The process

Checked by people, not scripts.

The mark on every listing is a person’s initials in our ledger. Here is exactly what happens before — and after — an event earns it.

  1. The intake

Listings arrive from organisers, members and source feeds — Eventbrite, Luma, direct. Nothing is indexed on arrival; everything waits in the queue. Source credit travels with the listing forever.
  2. The check

A person opens the registration link, confirms the venue exists and is booked, matches the organiser to a real footprint, and reads the copy for spam. Roughly one in eight fails. Link · venue · organiser · copy — four checks, one checker.
  3. The mark

The badge is applied with the checker’s initials and the date — public on every card as “checked 26 Jul”, because someone did, on the 26th of July.
    Verified · checked 26 Jul · R.O.
  4. The re-check

Every listing is re-checked in the week before its date. Links rot; venues move. If anything changed, the listing is corrected or the mark comes off until it’s right again. A stale mark is worse than no mark.
  5. The retirement

Dead listings are retired. Cancelled events are different: they stay visible, struck through, with the cancellation date — a record, not an erasure.
